Google Users Now Have 15 GB of Storage Space Shared Between Drive, Gmail, and Google+ Photos
15 GB is huge and a massive attack on Dropbox and other Cloud Storage Services. But I’m still not sure if and why I should switch from Dropbox.
First, it’s some work to migrate.
Second, I’m a Fan of not using every service a Company offers.

Windows 8.1 Developer Version ab Ende Juni erhältlich
Die Microsoft Hauptverantwortliche für Windows, Julie Larson-Green, hat heute auf der Wired Business Conference bestätigt, dass eine Developer Edition von Windows 8.1, Codename “Blue”, ab Ende Juni erhältlich sein wird.
Außerdem hat Sie Anfang der Woche bestätigt, dass Microsoft Aufgrund massiven Feedbacks, den Start Button wieder einbauen wird. Ob das die User aber endgültig zufrieden stellt, ist die Frage, denn das Startmenü bleibt, wie auch in Windows 8, der Kachel-Start-Screen.
Weiters wird es wohl auch die Möglichkeit geben, direkt in den Desktop zu Booten, ohne die Kachel-Oberfläche im Weg zu haben.
Wir dürfen gespannt sein.

Jony Ive paints a fresh, yet familiar, look for iOS 7

iOS 7 is codenamed “Innsbruck,” according to three people familiar with the OS. The interface changes include an all-new icon set for Apple’s native apps in addition to newly designed tool bars, tab bars, and other fundamental interface features across the system.
Innsbruck is the capital city of federal state of Tyrol in western Austria, known for its skiing. You may recall that all previous codenames of iOS builds have been named after ski resorts. iOS 6 was “Sundance”, for example.
Lots of good info from Gurman regarding Jony Ive’s iOS 7 design overhaul. Sounds like “flat” is indeed the new black.
I’m very excited about iOS7 and the design changes AND that Austria could “be a little piece” of the whole thing.
In my opinion it’s time for Apple to get some major design improvements for both Systems: iOS and OS X and I’m sure that a design overhauls don’t mean a new learning curve.
Google Now - Now for iOS
Google Now, die vorausschauende Search Engine von Google ist jetzt auch unter iOS verfügbar. Integriert in Googles “Next big Thing” in die Google Search App,
Google Now bedient sich der Informationen, die man selbst Google Tag für Tag über Suchen, Gmail, Google+, YouTube oder Maps zusteckt. So weiß Google, wo man Arbeitet, wohnt (Ortungsdienste), welches die Lieblings-Mannschaft ist (Google Suche), wann man wohin reist (Mail-Bestätigung in Gmail), wann der nächste Termin ist (Kalender), welche Filme im nächsten Kino laufen, usw.
Aus den gesammelten Daten erstellt Google einen Stream aus so genannten Cards, die die Informationen zum gegebenen Zeitpunkt perfekt aufbereitet anzeigen.
Z.B. bevor man zur Arbeit fährt, zeigt es Behinderungen und eine Ausweichrute, wenn die Lieblingsmannschaft spielt, den aktuellen Score, usw. - Siehe Video.
Google versucht also, Suchanfragen die man evtl. stellen würde, bereits vorab abzufangen und Sinngemäß darzustellen.
Nach den ersten Tests kann ich sagen, dass auch wenn die Ortungsdienste bei aktiviertem Google Now ständig an sind, der Akku-Verbrauch nicht übermäßig gestiegen ist. Die Performance der App ist meines erachtens grandios und “flutscht” wie Butter.
Fragwürdig ist eigentlich nur, wieso Google keine Push Notifications implementiert hat, aber das werden wir wohl in einem der nächsten Updates der App sehen.
BTW: Auch das App Icon hat einen notwendigen neuen Anstrich bekommen und passt jetzt auch zu Googles letzten Design Anpassungen.
